Fungal Diseases
  • Anthracnose and Scab
  • Aside from insect pests, are there diseases that affect harvest reduction?

Among the fungal diseases in mango, Anthracnose is considered to be the most serious. It is the most devastating disease of mango especially when induction is done early in season. The presence of rain and high humidity favor the development of diseases that easily affect the flowers. Early symptoms of Anthracnose are black, pin-pricked lesions. These pin-pricked lesions form bigger black spots until the whole fruit is covered.

Another fungal disease that is common in mango is Scab. This disease is more prominent on fruits as compared to leaves and flowers. Young fruits are susceptible to scab leading to their falling to the ground. When examined, irregular, raised corky structures are present on the surface.

  • Any recommendation on how to control Anthracnose and Scab?

In controlling fungal diseases, it is also best to use fungicides with different modes of action. Alternating contact fungicides with systemic fungicides will delay the development of resistance of fungi and control fungal diseases better.

Manzate DF is a high quality broad spectrum protective contact fungicide for the control of certain diseases in mango. In dry flowable formulation, Manzate DF prevents inhalation of ‘dust’ during mixing. It is highly soluble, prevents clogging sprayer nozzles, and ensures even spraying of the active ingredient. Application rate is at 375gms – 750gms per 200L drum.

For your systemic fungicide, we recommend our newest addition to the mango brands portfolio, Homerun. With its active ingredient Difenoconazole, it prevents development of disease symptoms. It has a strong combination of curative and preventive action. It is active during the first 3 days of application and has long residual effect up to 21 days even at low dosage. Because of being systemic and translaminar, Homerun helps to prevent the spread of infection and protects the inner and outer surfaces of the plant. It also helps in enhancing food production in the leaves. Application Rate is at 100ml per 200L drum.

  • What premium fungicide can I use during wet conditions?

During wet conditions, disease pressure is heightened and threat of damage due to fungal diseases is stronger. We highly recommend using Ringo-L, a premium systemic fungicide under the Strobilurins class containing the active ingredient Metominostrobin. Ringo-L has protective and curative action stopping the spread of diseases and preventing new entry of fungal diseases. In its SC formulation, it is water based and not harmful to buds, flowers and fruitlets. Ringo- L is also safe and environment-friendly. Application rate is at 100ml-150ml per 200L drum.

Plant Nutrition
  • Hasten Maturity of Leaf Flush
  • Fruit Quality and Less Fruit Drops
  • Is there any specialty fertilizer that we can use to increase the number of marketable fruits?

To achieve first-class quality harvest and less rejects, we recommend using Omex Calmax, a high calcium content (22.5%) product that improves fruit firmness, storability, color and skin finish for more Class A yield and less rejects. Omex Calmax also strengthens the stalk that holds the fruit thereby reducing fruit drops. Omex Calmax is applied at the application rate of 500ml- 1000ml per 200L drum from fruit setting to fruit development.
