  • Why do we need to control weeds in corn?

Weeds also affects corn production. It compete with corn for light, nutrients, and water, especially during the first 3 to 5 weeks following emergence of the crop. It is important to control weeds in a corn field before they are 6 to 8 inches high, which is when they begin to impact corn yields. Late-season weed infestations do not reduce corn yield nearly as much as early weed competition; however, weeds at this time can harbor destructive insect pests such as thrips, which can vector Fusarium ear rot, and armyworms, which can affect corn.

  • Is it safe to apply Slash to Maize Doble?

Yes. Maize Doble has a resistance to glyphosate. Slash do not have a no phototoxic effect to yellow corn.

  • What are the advantages of Amina vs 24D Ester?

“AMINA “is an effective follow-up herbicide against broadleaves and sedges.

Non Phytotoxic to Corn - It is absorbed by the leaves and roots with translocation into a growing portion of the weeds, where it inhibits the growth without causing any stunting, burning of the leaves of the corn crop.

Less Volatile - There’s minimal losses due to high temperature assuring efficacy of the product. Likewise, there will be no injury to non-target crops near the area.

Fungal Diseases
  • Grey Leaf Spot and other Fungal Diseases
  • What is corn leaf spot? How to control this disease?

Corn Leaf Spot is a fungal disease that affects corn. There are two fungal pathogens that cause leaf Spot, which are Cercospora zeae-maydis and Cercospora zeina . Symptoms seen on corn include leaf lesions, discoloration (chlorosis), and foliar blight.

To control fungal diseases in Corn, it is important to use a reliable fungicide. While many fungicides are available having different modes of action on fungi, dithiocarbimates, the fungicide group where mancozeb, the active ingredient of Manzate 200WP belongs, are among the most reliable.

In fact, Mancozeb is being used for close to 50 years now in many crops and have not developed any known resistance so far. As a contact fungicide, it has become a reliable combination to other systemic fungicides for effective disease control and resistance management.

However, not all mancozebs are created equal. Lower priced brands would not have the quality that Manzate has. Manzate is produced by the world’s largest manufacturer of mancozeb in its state-of-the-art facilities around the world. Thus, quality is assured in terms of purity, less moisture content, suspensibility and solubility.

Manzate 200WP has been proven to have more AI content than lower priced generics. These cheap mancozeb brands would also have more moisture content and therefore not as pure and effective as Manzate. This is evident as impurities will cause more foaming and result to sediments under or on the sides of the drum or sprayer tank.

With Manzate 200WP, you are assured that the quality product is evenly present in the tank and goes to the plant with every spray.

As fungal diseases like leaf spot may occur at any stage, it is best to apply Manzate 200 WP earlier on at around 14-20 DAT /DAT Use 3 to 6 tbsp of Manzate 200WP for every 16L water.

Manzate 200 WP is now available in 1 kg box containing four (4) 250-gram sachets.

Soil & Nutrition
  • Soil Acidity and Fertilizer Efficiency
  • Low Yield, Unfilled Ears
  • What are the advantages of plant nutrition products vs granular fertilizers?

Advantages of Plant Nutrition through the leaves:

Target specific - nutrients are sprayed on the specific plant parts

Fast-acting - Reaction is faster since the nutrients are sprayed on the leaves which is the site of food production

Flexible timing of application - Applied during the specific time where the nutrients are needed

Economical/less losses  -More nutrients in the leaves less on the soil

  • Is it really important to apply soil conditioner?

Yes, because land degradation due to intensive farming has been much more detrimental in agriculture.

Nutrients are depleted due to leaching and soil erosion. Continuous crop removal and frequent use of inorganic fertilizers can speed up the process of soil acidification. When soil is degraded, soil microorganisms are less active in decomposing organic matters in the soil. These result to less availability of nitrogen, phosphorus and other nutrients for plant use. Microorganisms also play a vital role in the conversion of applied inorganic fertilizers such as Urea, & ammonium to available form that can be absorbed by the plants.
