Consistent with its commitment to support the communities where it conducts its business, Jardine Distribution Inc., quickly moved to help farmers and homeowners who were devastated by Typhoon Odette (Rai). JDI’s Agro Products team mobilized its field technicians to provide planting materials to farmers in order for them to re-start their livelihood. On the other hand, the Construction Supplies group airlifted some of its products to the Visayas region so that homeowners can do some repairs to their homes, damaged by the typhoon.
In partnership with the local agricultural office, some 200 ‘recovery packs’ containing hybrid seeds and plant nutrition products were distributed to these farmers whose rice fields were completely submerged in floodwater for days resulting to huge losses on their part. The provided farm inputs is expected to help them get started and recover their livelihood this planting season.
JDI’s Construction Business Unit on the other hand partnered with the government officials of Maasin and Sogod City of Southern Leyte where 4,000 pcs of Sureseal packs were donated to benefit almost 100 families. Sureseal sealants can be used by homeowners to repair their homes.
